Dogs and Leashes

I’m sitting out on the front porch this morning and notice several of our neighbors walking their dogs. Rather, allowing their dogs to walk them. You see, my neighbors must think that those retractable ‘dog leashes’, you know the kind, roundish plastic part at the hand, 15-20 feet of small black cord, are humane or are cool. They are nothing of the sort. If you are walking the dog, why is your arm horizontal to the ground and you are trying to keep up? One of my neighbors, a man of Asian descent, knows how to walk his dog. You see, he walks the dogs. He has two dogs, one little white number and another bassethound/beagle? mix. Why is it that his dogs walk beside him at the pace he sets? If the dog strays ahead or behind, he gives a short, quick jerk to a traditional leash (~5 feet in length, not stretchy) and utters the word ‘heal’. After repeated instances of that, the dogs have learned what healing means. It’s beautiful. I’m glad my neighbor hasn’t been corrupted by the influences of PETA. After all, the dog is your pet. By the way, that is the correct way to train a dog to heal, and no, it isn’t cruel. Hey, I should know, I watched my neighbor this morning and I remember seeing it on a PBS show when I was about 12. So, begone with the wimpy, good for nothing ‘leashes’..

Working Woman

Sorry we haven’t posted in almost a month… things in Supercinski land are good, and not always so exciting. I got a job, actually two. So long to a life of leisure and getting to stay at home, but it is good and I was battling boredom. I got a job at my church as the “Friday Secretary” so I only work on Fridays and one other morning a week. At the same time that I got this job, I also was hired at Scrapbook Country. A little surprising since I’m not the best scrapbooker, but it is fun and I have never worked in retail before, can you believe that? I’ve worked in many random jobs, but in all 11 jobs I’ve had, this is the first in a store.
