Bumper Crop
I think we planted too many tomato plants this year. We stopped counting our harvested tomatoes after we got 350, and that was at least a month ago. Thanks, Mel Bartholomew. We’re reaping quite the harvest from your Square Foot Gardening method.
In case you are wondering why I haven’t posted another “getting greener” post in over a week, it’s because I’ve been a little busy canning tomatoes. This is just a glimpse…
So far, I’ve canned 32 jars of tomatoes (whole, diced, spaghetti sauce and salsa). Thomas just got home with another set of jars, so you can guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow while Josiah is asleep.

That is awesome! I have such a black thumb, but I might get this book and give it a shot!

Yay! I heart square foot gardening
Too bad we had to leave our garden before it was finished producing, but I did get quite a bit of canning out of it before we left.

mmm…botulism never tasted so good. if you get it (acute toxin-induced gastroenteritis) you can call the CDC at 404.639.3670 and let them know that you’ll need a shipment of Botulism anti-toxin. you’ll want to take that along with Penecillin G 2-4 million units IV q4-6 hrs x 10-14 days. [this is straight from the books] just trying to do what I can from my end. keep up the good work! talk to you all soon.

we have to talk. we need help. we did two tomato plants. one died within a month. the other exploded into tons of tomatoes. how many did we eat? ZERO. They were never right. They cracked, they never turned red, they were super small, all kinds of issues. This might have scared us away from all forms of farming. Where is my processed corn?
