Sewing Projects

I’ve been very busy lately doing lots of sewing. Since I haven’t had time for any other posts (I’ve been too busy sewing), I’ll leave you with a few pictures.

First, new wipes for Josiah. The old, single-layer flannel wipes have been used for over a year now and are getting a little thin. I bought some fun, race car flannel and lined the other side with terry, actually, an old towel. Voila! New, very-handy-at-cleaning-messy-bums wipes!

I’ve also made several Mei Tai carriers the past few weeks. I wish I had made one a year ago to use with Josiah. It’s handy for front or back carries, and very adjustable. Forgive me for the poor-quality self-portrait.

After seeing a friend with an amazingly similar pattern on her skirt, I dug through my old boxes and found a large piece of fabric I purchased in Nepal six years ago, and made a fun skirt for myself. I really like it, and I am so happy I found a fun way to use the fabric.

The rest I sewed last night, staying up too late. I made this skirt after seeing this cute material on sale this weekend. A little country, but cute.

Three nursing covers, and a shameless plug for my little business:

And I made a pouch sling also, but didn’t take a picture. Whew! It’s time to do something else for a few days.

Way to go, Rachel! I love the Nepal skirt!

I want to check out the Mei Tei. I may need one. Does it need any special material? I have some that I like that I’d like to get some use out of.

I want a Nepal skirt! ;) Do you have an extra fabric? :) If you don’t mind, one day I’d like to try out one of your nursing covers and a mei tei to see if they work for me. I’d much rather buy from a friend than a business! GREAT WORK, Mama!

so cool man. I wish I could sew. However, since I can’t, I can ask you if you’d be interested in patching some of my favorite pants turned shorts turned shorts with a big hole in the bumper… Thoughts?

oohh, that reminds me that I need to get holly that nursing cover. That green one that is in the pic is too cute. is it already taken???

  7. Rachel Says:

Julia, sorry, no extra fabric. You should come over sometime and see the stuff sometime, but you have a few months yet!

D.O., bring your shorts over sometime and we can see what we can do. I’m not the best patcher in the world, but I’ve fixed a few pairs of Thomas’ pants in the past.

Erin, I made three covers at one time, so yes, there are two available. You are welcome to one if you want it, just call me sometime since my email hates your email address for some reason.

    Rachel,
I make the nursing covers too! I think it is a wonderful gift to give to nursing moms. Good idea on the wipes. Thankfully Ariana is almost out of diapers. I love the skirts. I made the girls some dresses this summer. Sewing is my favorite thing to do.

So. You win the award Mrs. Rachel. Way to go. Homemaker of THE YEAR award!!!
That Mei Tei sling looks awesome and just what we’ve been looking for. We might need it in a daddy compatible and N. Afr. compatible fabric though. Hm…
    Whatcha think?
You are by far the coolest Mom friend I have! :0)
