All His Ducks in a Row

Josiah has a new hobby - lining things up and sorting things. Toys, food, stickers, crayons, and such have all been sorted and arranged methodically of late. He used to enjoy lining up his cars, but now everything is lined up. Some examples as I walked through the house (I am often stumbling upon other discoveries–carrots on his dinner plate, crayons on the table, etc.):

You will notice that all of the “baby” animals are in another animal’s lap:

These animals are all sorted by type and arranged around the table.

There is a long line of cars here you can’t see, and the rest are stacked on blocks making “car transporters.”

I have only ever heard of one other kid doing this all the time, so is this “normal” or a sign of genius? ;) You should see the way his face brightens up when I pull out a stack of cards and suggest we line them up.

How funny! Would that one other kid happen to be Ashton Hendrick? He is the same exact way- cards and everything.

I most certain it is a sign of genius.

    Thanks for sharing!

Is my kid the other kid? One way or another, definitely a sign of genius ;).

I have recently started putting his “matching” to work by having him put away the silverware from the dishwasher :).

Of course it’s a sign of genius!!! Jacob did this exact thing (still kinda does). When we would go to visit friends, he’d always check the refrigerator for alphabet magnets so he could put them in the right order. One of my friends would go right behind him and mess them up when he wasn’t looking. As soon as he noticed, he went right back to arranging them correctly.

Just wait until he old enough for Legos. Holy Cow! That’s all my kid does, and the things he creates are unbelievable!

    Keep lining up, Josiah!

yeah- my dylin did that, and still does at 4 1/2. i have a picture on my phone of us in target where she lined up about 800 tiny toys when she was around 2. maybe this is a first born thing?

He is too cute! We do a lot of lessons and activities using the different learnings styles at my school. He looks kinda like a naturalist-people who love nature (obviously) but also people who are organized and like to categorize and sort things. Maybe his learning style is naturalist. :)
