Confession
We have been watching the Olympics… on television.
What’s that you say? The Supercinski’s don’t have a television? Not exactly…
We were generously given a TV-DVD player by the Culpeppers at their wedding. They were paring down their stuff, and I really needed a tv to show videos on during my Bradley classes. After my weekend in Austin and getting to watch the Olympics, I was itching to watch more, and my sweet husband made it work in just ten minutes.
Here he is holding the antenna he made (I am amazed):

That didn’t last very long. The final antenna result:

And the picture… can’t you see the Chinese gymnast doing her bar routine? It isn’t this fuzzy, but it is definitely no HDTV, that’s for sure.

Does this mean I can watch college football on Saturday visits?

We only get 3 channels, one of them being PBS, so good luck with that.

seeing a TV in your home seems so unnatural. I think this was done w/ photoshop.

We used to have basic cable which we paid about $15/month for. We recently bought a HD converter box (about $15 after the government coupon and required for our old set) and an HD antenna (about $50 at Radio Shack). Now we get 20+ channels of HD programming for $0/month! The only channel we lost that I really would have liked to keep was CNN. Just a thought. I think here in Minneapolis we get no less than 5 PBS stations now.

I could only have hoped for such a clear picture on our ghetto, ghetto, ghetto antenna set up (on our ridiculous HD flat screen television… without cable).

ah man! i wish you would have posted this earlier! i would have totally stolen your antenna idea. we too are non-tv watchers but really wanted to watch the olympics. alas, no channel 2. it seems like we only carry the channels that offer tyra banks programming. lucky us.
