RIP: Sir Spotsky 2005-2008
Sir Spotsky, a resident of Bryan/College Station for 3 years, passed August 2nd, 2008. Spotsky was preceded in death by bowlmates Byte and Giga. Spotsky led a full and at times tumultuous life, beating the odds and outliving his bowl mates and the dire predictions of two pet store clerks.
Sir Spotsky’s latter years were spent imprisoned in solitary confinement after the unexplained death of his one time bowlmate, Giga, whose death was ruled an icthocide by the authorities. The rehabilitation efforts of his wardens seemed to have produce a glimmer of change in his attitude in recent months. Alas, the fruits of those efforts and his positive response will not be seen.
For anyone interested, Josiah was not adversely affected, despite his parents’ attempts at using the occasion as a life lesson. All he could say was ‘fish got died’ and ‘bye fish’.
You will find Sir Spotsky’s burial plot here, if you would like to visit and pay respects.

@Greg Rhodes:
Thank you, Greg. Spotsky’s family appreciates the honor. They are comforted to know that he is making a small, but highly committed contribution to agriculture somewhere in our nation today.

I’m donning my black attire in mourning of Spotsky.
Well, actually I wore my black shirt earlier this week, so I’m really wearing my white one, but in my mental interpretation of today’s outfit: black as night.

Definitely brought back memories of Azul who actually lived for 4 years during the late 90’s and early 2000’s at Central until he had to be frozen.

I will just treasure the time we got to spend with him (and be glad that he had a starring role in one of our family videos).

RIP Sir Spotsky! You will be missed! I hope the new tennants are getting along swimmingly, however.
I know one little boy who will be excited to feed them if you let him!

Sorry, Jules (and little D.) The new tenants of the bowl passed on within 12 hours of their arrival at our house. I think it may have had something to do with me taking them to Dairy Queen with us to play after their purchase–and then letting Josiah hold the bag (and try tot touch them through it) on the way home. If any fish survived that, it would be a miracle.
The bowl has been retired for now.
This morning at church, Josiah started telling someone about it. He said, “My fish got died. He’s dead. Flushed down the potty. Yeah.” I can’t describe the somber way he said it, but it was hilarious.

My desk fish, named Blue Strawberry by one of the office kids, went to join Sir Spotsky this morning. He’s about to receive the same burial spot.
