Annalise is 9 Months Old

Annalise is such a sweet and (generally) content little girl. I love her so much. Some of her favorite things this month include finding any cords in the house within reach, knocking over Josiah’s stack of library books, pulling puzzles out from under the coffee table and sampling each piece, and pretty much anything that is NOT a baby toy.

She is still not crawling, but gets up on all fours, rocks a bit, then pushes herself backward. She still is very adept at getting around (and into everything she can) by rolling, scooting a bit, and turning around in a circle. No longer content to sit and play for several minutes at a time, she is busy, busy, busy, much to Josiah’s annoyance. This is the face she has been making when she notices the camera. Already.

Annalise officially started on solids this month. Previously, everything we offered was promptly spit back out, but suddenly, she decided she would swallow things and actually open her mouth to accept them. She only eats solids at dinner at this point, but I’m thinking we will add a lunchtime feeding in sometime this month. She eats pureed food, and I just started trying some puffs (which she did well with). She still nurses at least six times a day, but I don’t really count, that is a low estimate. She started signing “milk” this month, it is so cute. She also started waving this month. I call it the “Annalise salute”, but it is her mimicking a wave. This is it and the picture below is the milk sign.

She takes two naps a day now, totaling about three hours. Her morning nap is generally 1-1.5 hours and her afternoon nap is 1.5-2 hours long. She has been sleeping really well at night, only waking once (or no times–I am shocked) during her 12 hour night. Until last night… I’m hoping it is just more teeth. Annalise loves being outside and watching her brother play. She says “mama” and a lot of other sounds, especially blowing raspberries. She also loves being worn in the carrier.

And lastly, this is really random, but when we park the car in the garage, Annalise’s seat is right by where Thomas hangs the weedeater and blower. Since she was tiny, she has always tried to reach out and grab them as we walk past. I normally let her, and this month I finally remembered to get a picture of her and her weedeater love.

    What a cutie!

You should make her an “I heart weedeaters” shirt. When our nephew Taylor was little, he was obsessed with big box fans- would go to Target and just sit in front of the box fans and stare. Kids are funny stuff.
